It’s official! The Democratic Party has formally chosen Kamala Harris as their nominee for President.
Today, Vice President Kamala Harris has received 2,350 votes, (the required minimum amount) from democratic delegates. The voting began on Thursday and will end on Monday. When the voting ends, Harris is expected to have a total of 3,923 delegates on her side.
Normally, the President and Vice President nominees are announced at the party convention, but this year, a virtual roll call was conducted to avoid running the risk of breaking state ballot access laws due to the Democratic National Convention occurring in late August. Ohio has a ballot deadline of August 7th.
Now, we’re all on pins and needles waiting to see who Harris will pick as her Vice President. Will it be Josh Shapiro, Pete Buttigieg , Mark Kelly or Andy Beshear? My vote is for Josh Shapiro.
We’ll found out next week!
